GAME DAY FABULOSITY at DIVAS

Although the next GAME DAY is a few weeks away, its still early enough in the season to shop around for your next game day outfit. We just received one of the most adorable and comfortable dresses. Just look how precious our model Meghan looks :)

Last Friday, Sep. 9. 2010,  we had our amazing "Fall into Fashion" fashion show event hosted at Dungeon Lounge on University and Alafaya and everything went spectacular. The models looked gorgeous, we all became so close playing dress up and running around last minute to get everything done. Thanks to everyone who came out, friends, family, boyfriends etc. Thanks to everyone at Knight Library for helping us make this happen. We had such a great time and plans for the next one are already in the works. Keep your eyes peeled :)

The next bio is about our store manager, Sara Romero. She's been at DIVAS for almost a year and she is very dedicated to anything DIVAS related. A lot of the behind the scenes is where you will find her. Sara is 22 years old and currently in her last semester at U.C.F. She will graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Business and plans to continue her education in what she is truly passionate about, Fashion Design. You will always find Sara on the search for what's next in the fashion world, from online blogs, magazines, to seeking unknown brands and trends. She is 100% emerged in the fashion world and it is a treat to see her grow and become more confident. We couldn't do as much as we do and get everything done if it wasn't for her! Thank you so much for all your work and we love you!

Fashion Show PLAYLIST

Hello DIVAS, like most of you already know we will be hosting a FASHION SHOW this Friday at Dungeon Lounge. Located next to Knight Library on the corner of University and Alafaya (across the street from our store.)

Many of you out there may have never heard of supermodel Coco Rocha, but like us here at DIVA's you have definitely seen her work. Until recently she was an under the radar supermodel but with the MTV Music Awards happening next Sunday, September 12th she might become somewhat of a household name. Coco Rocha, will be the first ever supermodel to host the VMA's Red Carpet! This lady is Fashion at its best! Take at look at Coco Rocha and watch her during the VMA's. We will be waiting to look at her best and worst dressed list :)

Back to school style under $100...

Alarm clocks are going off all around school campuses everywhere and its time to return back to school for another semester. But who said you had to compromise style to make the scholarly mark. Downtown DIVAS has a blend of comfortable fabrics and affordable clothing pieces for the "on-the-go" student. Take a few tips from the outfits we have put together below. Looking fashionable, being comfortable, and living a fast paced lifestyle is easy as pie.

Wear a one piece like this Royal Blue jumper. 

One pieces are easy to put on, very comfortable to be in all day, and wearing a bright color adds that stylish touch to a simple outfit.
This outfit will cost you around $70.

Shorts in Florida are a must have. A black pair of shorts are always slimming, add a soft cotton crop top and you are instantly fashion forward. Crop tops are a big trend this year, get them in different colors and reuse this style.
This outfit will cost you around $60.

If you are absolutely running late or in a rush to conquer the days "to do" list, stick with the basics. Dark denim jeans or a pair of comfortable leggings, put your hair up in a messy bun, and throw on a tank. Tank tops like the one above are slightly longer and wearing one with stripes, a pattern, or a bright color will complete the look.

Girls Night Out Music Mix - By Sara

A Diva is not only always looking good but they know how to have a good time too. Here at DIVA's we love to listen to all types of music from hip-hop, rock, indie, to top 40. I have put together a mix and titled it "Girls Night Out" for those Divas out there that love getting ready with some music beating in the background.

My musical taste is not the most conventional however this playlist really gets me ready to get out there and dance. If it isn't hitting the spot, not too worry Divas, keep yourself posted for more playlist to come featuring the music likes of our other DIVA's specialist- Dimitra or as we call her "Dee" as well as for what Cori our Main Diva loves to turn the volume up to.

Dimitra Lappas

The blog has been active for a few months now and we love to update you guys with style tips, outfit options, new arrivals, and everything and anything Divas. However we got to thinking, we've ' never told you about who WE are. Being one on one with our customers is my favorite part about my job. Starting with this blog post we will be starting a series of blog posts where we will be telling you a little bit of who we are :) Hope you guys like getting to know us as much as we want to get to know you...

Dimitra Lappas

Dimitra is one of our fashion stylist and sales reps. She is a 20 year old Florida native who moved to Orlando to attend the International Academy of Design & Technology to major in fashion design and merchandising. She began with DIVA's as a loyal shopper and later moved up to becoming one of our interns. After a few months of interning we just knew we couldn't let her go and asked her to join the team as a part-time stylist and sales rep. Her loud and outgoing personality with a whole lot of silliness is what we love about her. She is a fierce woman and noticed as soon as she walks into a room. She is always styled head to toe and as a design student, she is full of fresh and hot new ideas for our humble and daring Boutique. "Dee" as we like to call her is very generous with her advice and thanks to her we dare to get a wild with our fashion. Dimitra is currently a free-lance stylist. Stop by the store any time and consult with her for any fashion questions, advice, or simply just to chit chat about her new favorite fashion item. Dimitra truly lives, eats and breathes fashion.

It has been awesome seeing all of you lately, getting caught up with you and hearing about your summer vacations. As the school year goes on, I know from time to time it gets overwhelming and you question what you are really doing as you sit in class for hours a day, BUT hang in there!

When it is all said and done, its an AMAZING accomplishment to know all your hard works has paid off! All the years of homework, late night studying etc......is all worth it in the end, TRUST me ;). I wish you all the best this school year. Rompers and Jumpers are this seasons fashion STAPLE!

Finding the perfect fitting romper, is like looking for the perfect LBD! (Little black dress) Not all rompers and jumpers are designed for all body types. You may have to try on several different styles and a few different labels to find the one that fits you best! Keep that in mind and don't get overwhelmed when shopping for these trendy pieces.

Wearing rompers and jumpers should be two things, comfortable and function-able!! Since they are meant to have more of a baggy and relaxed fit, try adding a waist belt to cinch and add shape. Wearing an empire waist belt will help you look less "boxy" and more of an instant hour glass shape.

Wearing your romper or jumper during the day? For an adorable and feminine look, pair it with some gladiator sandal flats. For an evening out? Wear a pair of tan heels or wedges, they will add length to your legs and add more of a dramatic look to your romper.

Harem pants are more retro-modern with a casual, less body-conscious look. Interested in figuring out how to pull these EXTREMELY fashion forward pants off?  When wearing a voluminous fabric, it’s best to keep everything around it fairly simple and on the fitted side. I suggest a snug little tank top is key if you’re going to go baggy on the bottom. GREAT item to have for this seasons Fall fashions ;)

Model call THIS Thursday for an upcoming fashion show!

Downtown DIVAS will be hosting a model call for anyone interested in walking in an upcoming fashion show. The show will be on Friday September 10th, 2010. I will need all models to be available September 10th from 7pm-1am. Models will be compensated with Downtown DIVAS gift certificates and merchandise from the store. The casting will be next Thursday August 5th at 7pm. I am asking everyone to bring a current photo that we can keep on file and a pair of heels. NO experience necessary. We will teach you all how to walk, if you don't already know how! ;)
