Girls Night Out Music Mix - By Sara

A Diva is not only always looking good but they know how to have a good time too. Here at DIVA's we love to listen to all types of music from hip-hop, rock, indie, to top 40. I have put together a mix and titled it "Girls Night Out" for those Divas out there that love getting ready with some music beating in the background.

My musical taste is not the most conventional however this playlist really gets me ready to get out there and dance. If it isn't hitting the spot, not too worry Divas, keep yourself posted for more playlist to come featuring the music likes of our other DIVA's specialist- Dimitra or as we call her "Dee" as well as for what Cori our Main Diva loves to turn the volume up to.

The blog has been active for a few months now and we love to update you guys with style tips, outfit options, new arrivals, and everything and anything Divas. However we got to thinking, we've ' never told you about who WE are. Being one on one with our customers is my favorite part about my job. Starting with this blog post we will be starting a series of blog posts where we will be telling you a little bit of who we are :) Hope you guys like getting to know us as much as we want to get to know you...

Dimitra Lappas

Dimitra is one of our fashion stylist and sales reps. She is a 20 year old Florida native who moved to Orlando to attend the International Academy of Design & Technology to major in fashion design and merchandising. She began with DIVA's as a loyal shopper and later moved up to becoming one of our interns. After a few months of interning we just knew we couldn't let her go and asked her to join the team as a part-time stylist and sales rep. Her loud and outgoing personality with a whole lot of silliness is what we love about her. She is a fierce woman and noticed as soon as she walks into a room. She is always styled head to toe and as a design student, she is full of fresh and hot new ideas for our humble and daring Boutique. "Dee" as we like to call her is very generous with her advice and thanks to her we dare to get a wild with our fashion. Dimitra is currently a free-lance stylist. Stop by the store any time and consult with her for any fashion questions, advice, or simply just to chit chat about her new favorite fashion item. Dimitra truly lives, eats and breathes fashion.

This Wednesday August 25th, Downtown DIVAS will be attending the second annual welcome expo at UCF. The event will be held in the Pegasus Ballroom, located in the student union. It has been awesome seeing all of you lately, getting caught up with you and hearing about your summer vacations. As the school year goes on, I know from time to time it gets overwhelming and you question what you are really doing as you sit in class for hours a day, BUT hang in there!

When it is all said and done, its an AMAZING accomplishment to know all your hard works has paid off! All the years of homework, late night studying etc......is all worth it in the end, TRUST me ;). I wish you all the best this school year. Rompers and Jumpers are this seasons fashion STAPLE!

Finding the perfect fitting romper, is like looking for the perfect LBD! (Little black dress) Not all rompers and jumpers are designed for all body types. You may have to try on several different styles and a few different labels to find the one that fits you best! Keep that in mind and don't get overwhelmed when shopping for these trendy pieces.

Wearing rompers and jumpers should be two things, comfortable and function-able!! Since they are meant to have more of a baggy and relaxed fit, try adding a waist belt to cinch and add shape. Wearing an empire waist belt will help you look less "boxy" and more of an instant hour glass shape.

Wearing your romper or jumper during the day? For an adorable and feminine look, pair it with some gladiator sandal flats. For an evening out? Wear a pair of tan heels or wedges, they will add length to your legs and add more of a dramatic look to your romper.

Harem pants are more retro-modern with a casual, less body-conscious look. Interested in figuring out how to pull these EXTREMELY fashion forward pants off?  When wearing a voluminous fabric, it’s best to keep everything around it fairly simple and on the fitted side. Model call THIS Thursday for an upcoming fashion show!

Downtown DIVAS will be hosting a model call for anyone interested in walking in an upcoming fashion show. The show will be on Friday September 10th, 2010. I will need all models to be available September 10th from 7pm-1am. Models will be compensated with Downtown DIVAS gift certificates and merchandise from the store. The casting will be next Thursday August 5th at 7pm. I am asking everyone to bring a current photo that we can keep on file and a pair of heels. NO experience necessary. We will teach you all how to walk, if you don't already know how! ;)
